Studying foreign topics or studying abroad is a special experience. One gets involved in another culture and especially when you are abroad for any length of time one develops inventiveness, life-skills and new ways of communication. For most students this is an unforgettable period in their lives.
Undoubtedly your preparations, time for travel and local logistics require careful planning. It calls for more discipline and perseverance than a research or an apprenticeship in the Netherlands. Don't let this discourage you though, it is all part of the experience.

Thesis
A thesis is a scholarly paper based on your personal research topic.
Your lecturer will approve the topic of your research. Unless agreed otherwise this lecturer will have regular sessions with you on your progress.

Apprenticeship
During an apprenticeship a student for a predetermined period works at an organisation with a view to obtain experience and insight into the functioning of that organisation and his or her part in it.

Excursions (minimum 7 days) can be arranged on request and in consultation with ICOMOS Shared Built Heritage Scientific Committee.
Where excursions are acknowledged by a university for study credits a series of lectures can be part of the total excursion programme.
Depending on the allocated number of study credits student may be required to publish a scientific article in a journal.
